This new Seed Sensing Technology utilizes the existing Potato Press Wheel system, but features enhanced wheels that have the ability to sense the contact with each seed piece while they are being locked in place on the ground during planting by the press wheels.
This gives their system the precise location of each, and every potato seed planted. From this data the system records the number of ideal seed placements, less than ideal, doubles, & misses. Thus, enabling the farmer to know the potato planter’s actual performance (the seeds’ placement on the ground) in real time without ever getting out of the tractor.
The system delivers real-time feedback of planter’s actual performance, allowing operators to immediately see any degradation of planter’s performance and take corrective action to maximize planter’s performance & efficiency.
The system enables farm managers & owners to monitor in real time the planter’s operating during the planting season remotely via BSSI’s mobile app on any device.
The system also monitors the seeding rate (cwt/ac) and accurately measure average seed placing in real time. This system allows for more efficient land use, minimizing each plant’s foot print and enabling better use of crop inputs.
The system accumulates all seeding data for each field or seed lot: total planted, total seed weight, doubles, misses, less than ideal, and ideally planted seeds. This seeding data is automatically uploaded to a secure data storage platform where farmers can access their own data at any time, from anywhere.
