The Belle de Fontenay potato is one of the oldest French varieties. It is also one of the earliest. It is a French breeding operation whose origin and exact date of creation remain unknown. It is a very early variety that is harvested 2 to 3 months after planting, from May to July. Nowadays it is susceptible to almost all diseases and increasingly complicated to cultivate.
