Four crops are distinguished:
- The WINTER crop
The winter crop is planted in August/September and harvested in November until February. This crop is destined for about 50% for local consumption market and 50% is exported.
- The SPRING crop
The spring crop is planted in November/February and harvested in March/June This is the ‘Main Potato Crop’ on Cyprus and is primarily destined for the export market.
- The INTERMEDIATE crop
The intermediate crop is planted in October and harvested in late February, beginning of March. This is a small crop mainly produced for export.
- The SUMMER crop
The summer crop is planted in April/June at altitude in the Troodos mountains. Only very small quantities are produced, mainly for the local market.
