On Friday Evening December 14 around 9.30 pm, a large fire broke out at the Foxhol site of Starch Manufacturer Avebe in a storage area.

Avebe reported that its employees immediately acted adequately and notified the proper authorities.

The factory was safely shut down and there were no unsafe situations for employees or environment.

The fire took place in a small covered storage area. Here were, among other things, empty storage tanks and wood pallets.

The fire department had the fire under control prior to midnight and managed to prevent expansion of the fire to the production plant surrounding the burning warehouse. According to the fire department no dangerous substances were released.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Avebe is testing all processes in the plant in order to make sure that everything is operating safely before restarting production at its Foxhol location.
