McCain Foods USA has announced it will begin a major capital improvement and renovation project for its Burley 2 potato plant in Idaho. The project is slated to begin this fall and will be completed over the next 2 years.

The renovation of Burley 2 will position the facility for further growth, improve quality and reaffirm the company’s commitment to Burley and the surrounding area.

“Although the renovation won’t increase the plant’s capacity or employment, it will position us for greater competitiveness by adding state of the art manufacturing equipment and updated infrastructure.” said Jeff McCray, Burley Plant Manager. “This will also further reduce our energy and water consumption, allowing us to retain our DOE Energy Star rating.”

Burley 2, which was built in 1964, produces a variety of straight cut, crinkle cut, coated and non parfry potato products that are distributed across North America and are exported to Asia.

McCain Foods USA entered the U.S. market more than 30 years ago and is a leading supplier of frozen potato and snack food products for the foodservice markets (including major national food chains). McCain also supplies retail grocery chains with both McCain and private label potato products.

Popular McCain frozen snack foods are sold under the Moore’s, Anchor and Brew City brands, and the Ellio’s frozen pizza brand.

McCain Foods USA, headquartered in Lisle, Illinois, employs 4,500 people and operates production facilities in Illinois, Maine, Washington, Wisconsin, Idaho, New Jersey, California and Nebraska.
