KFC Holdings (M) Bhd aims to create 1,200 jobs in Malaysia this year as it continues to expand its network of 442 outlets in the country to 482 by year-end, said managing director Jamaludin Md Ali.

The company had opened six outlets year-to-date, with 160 people employed, boosting the total staff strength in the region to 19,000 currently, he said.

The locations of the new outlets include Kampung Air in Sabah, Jitra in Kedah, Tesco in Kuala Selangor and Mukah in Sarawak.

“We plan to invest about RM32mil in opening 40 outlets this year, with the main focus on small towns in the east coast and east Malaysia,” he told reporters after the official rollout of Jom KFC service yesterday.
