A 28-year-old man who works at the Cavendish Farms french fry plant in Jamestown was airlifted to the Minneapolis St. Paul burn unit on Thursday evening following a workplace accident, WDAY reported Friday.
The employee has been with the company for five years as a fryer operator and is from Jamestown. At the time of the incident he was adjusting valves near the fryer when water in the valve caused hot cooking oil to be released from a fryer area filter, company officials said. The employee sustained first- and second-degree burns to his chest, legs and right arm.
The employee is in stable condition, Cavendish officials said. His injuries are not life threatening.
