Pepsi to unleash 'power of one' in India
Pepsi to unleash 'power of one' in India
Pepsi Co is setting up a new leadership structure in India. Its two companies in India — PepsiCo India Holdings and snack food company FritoLay Indiawill be headed by Sanjeev Chadha who until now was only leading the beverages business.
The move is in line with PepsiCo global chairman &CEO Indra Nooyi’s ‘power of one’ strategy followed in many world markets and is being implemented for the first time in India. The restructuring will come into effect starting January 1, 2009.
Mr Chadha will oversee the two businesses and has been elevated as PepsiCo chairman of the India region. He will be assisted by FritoLay MD Gautham Mukkavilli who will also work on both businesses and has been elevated as president of the India region.
Though the teams of PepsiCo and FritoLay will continue to function as separate entities, the two heads of both divisions will be common. So far, beverages and snack foods always had independent heads in India.
