Crisp-maker Golden Wonder has launched a diamond jubilee (60 year) 'counter attack' to regain the home territory lost to ex-England striker Gary Lineker and his Walkers XI.
The fight-back is being led by mother-of-five Della Daly, who has been put in charge of the Scunthorpe firm's new van sales operation. It is five years since Golden Wonder, which makes 780-million bags of crisps every year in Scunthorpe, last had vans on the roads.
And local factory boss Nigel Smith is the first to admit the business has lost the home advantage to arch-rival Walkers since then.
Mr Smith said: "Walkers gained a huge advantage when we sold our national fleet of sales vans to them.
