The mission of Patate Lac-Saint-Jean, a cooperative of 5 member farms in Quebec Canada, is to research and develop potato cultivars to market quality seed potatoes to its customers. Patate Lac-Saint-Jean produces more than fifty varieties, of which about thirty are offered for sale to its customers in all categories in North America.
Patate Lac-Saint-Jean offers packed potatoes in all sizes from 5 to 50 pounds and sells to both consumers as wholesalers.
Each year, Patate Lac-Saint-Jean tests around a hundred varieties from different breeders within its trial network in order to select those that best meet the expectations of the different markets for production and marketing purposes. Self-sufficient in basic seeds, Patate Lac-Saint-Jean has the necessary infrastructure to produce mini tubers from its own seedlings.
