Origin and Breeding History
The variety 'Montreal' originated from a cross made in 1997 between 'Amora' as the female parent and 'Amalia' as the male parent as part of a private breeding program at the Aardappelkweekbedrift Boerhave B.V. breeding facility in Elburg, The Netherlands.
The resultant seed was planted in the greenhouse in Elburg in 1998 and from these, tubers were harvested and planted in the field during the spring of 1999. The variety was selected for its agronomic characteristics and resistance to various diseases.
