Americans consume 3.9 Kg (8.9 pounds) potato chips per person annually, which made them to spend USD 7.6 billion by just consuming Pringles, Lays and Ruffles. Currently, the potato chip market valued at USD 10.07 billion and the market is expected to grow as it is driver by go-to-go snacking habits and convenience.

The first dips originated in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions, with hummus and olive oil as early examples. However, consumption patterns have evolved, with modern dips like salsa, guacamole, and cheese becoming favorites. Quick and easy options such as ketchup and mayo are also available for those who prefer a simpler choice.

After the Great Depression, food expenses were unaffordable for many middle- and lower-class households, leading to the development of inexpensive chips and dips. Over time, these items transitioned from necessity to party snack staples. Latin American influence also played a role, introducing tortilla chips and salsa, which remain a globally favored combination.
