Peter Erik Ywema, director of Sustainability, will leave Royal Avebe on October 1, 2024. This has been mutually agreed by Ywema and the board of directors.

David Fousert, chairman of the board at Royal Avebe:

"We are Peter Erik very grateful that through his efforts and commitment great steps were made in the field of sustainability within Avebe. We are proud to say that he has put sustainability on the map and embedded it in the company. A solid foundation on which we can continue working towards our ambitious sustainability goals."

Sustainability strategy

The strategic route Avebe took in 2018 prompted the cooperative to create a solid sustainability role. Sustainability ambitions were growing and Avebe was looking for new élan to do so. They found that role in the person of Peter Erik Ywema.

He had a 10-year track record as director of the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform (SAI Platform) and, before that, extensive experience in the agri-food sector as a sustainability and strategy consultant. Under Ywema’s leadership, Avebe has taken the lead in the sector. Among other things, by publishing an integrated sustainability report (Integrated annual report 2022/2023). He has embedded sustainability at Avebe in all parts of the organization.

Accelerate and Strengthen

In Avebe’s strategy Accelerate and Strengthen, sustainability has a prominent place. By firmly establishing and embedding sustainability in the company, Avebe can now continue to build on its ambitions for the coming years.
