A potato specialties factory, set up by Serya Alimentos S/A, has started operations in Brazil and promises to shake up the frozen par-fried potato specialties market.

Located in Araxá, state of Minas Gerais, Serya Alimentos S/A started its production in May 2015.

The production line has an innovative layout and the Serya invested in the latest technology and state of art machinery to ensure excellency in the production process, low cost and very low water and energy consumption, bringing the performance to the edge.

The annual production capacity is 12,000 tons potato specialties.

Wide range of value added products

With a wide range of products Serya aims to lead the specialty sector in Brazil and also export to other South American markets, focusing exclusively on value added products. Serya is,anticipating future expansion given the fact that this market is still lacking local providers and the majority of products offered in Brazil are imported from Europe and Argentina.

Serya is dedicated exclusively to the production of formed potato specialties, including both mashed and shredded products: hash browns, noisettes, pommes duchess, waffles, kids shapes and more. With last generation forming machinery, Serya also offers key clients the opportunity to produce tailor-made products under private label brand.

It should also be noted that Serya does not use potatoes discharged from e.g. a French Fries production line to produce the specialties, enabling a superior quality and premium taste of the products.

Innovative brands for retail and foodservice

Serya Alimentos has been working hard on research and development in order to bring innovative products to the market. The company has already launched two product brands – “Batatinha Quando Assa” and “Rusti”. The brand "Batatinha Quando Assa" has a more playful appeal, affectionate and family oriented, it starts with the Kids format in four different shapes. The brand "Rusti" will bring a croquette shape similar to the traditional “Tater Tots”, well known in the United States market.

Both products are available for retail as well as food service, in packs of 400 grams and one kilo respectively.
