Potato Starch Manufacturer AVEBE completes campaign

Potato Starch Manufacturer AVEBE completes campaign
maart 13, 2015
This season's potato processing operation at starch manufacturer AVEBE has reached its conclusion. The final potatoes for the 2014-2015 campaign have been delivered in Ter Apelkanaal. The last potatoes were processed at the Gasselternijveen location last week.

The quality of this campaign's potatoes was better than last year. The starch content is 20.3%, which is slightly above the long-term average. The average tare figure was 6%, which is in line with the long-term average. The cooperative's members largely utilised their delivery capacity.

The campaign started on time in August 2014 and was characterised from the beginning by major differences in the yield per region. Many starch potato growers achieved an above-average starch yield per hectare, but in one part of AVEBE's operational area growers faced heavy rainfall in the spring. This resulted in a lower yield in the affected areas, or in some cases no harvest at all.
