McCain's Smiles listed among 'Best of British'
McCain Foods’ Smiley Faces have appeared at number six in a list of top ten British inventions, which was compiled by MP’s who were asked to nominated the best example of design for an online Great Exhibition.
The Smiley Potato Faces were put forward by former North Yorkshire County Councillor, and Scarborough resident Gavin Williamson, who is now MP for South Staffordshire.
Mr Williamson said: “They may not be the most sophisticated of foodstuffs, but they’re a wonderfully simple idea.” Andrew Riley, corporate affairs manager at McCain Foods GB, which has a factory in Eastfield/Scarborough and employs 750 on this location, said:
“We are delighted that one of our products has been recognised in this way as an example of the Best of British.”
