Buyout firm Palladium Equity Partners is exploring a sale of Wise Foods, the maker of Cheez Doodles and Wise potato chips, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.

Palladium has hired investment bank Piper Jaffray Cos. to find potential buyers, said the people, who declined to be identified because the talks are private.

Palladium acquired Wise Foods in 2000 for an undisclosed amount. At the time, Palladium said Wise had $336 million in annual revenue from its chips, pretzels and other snacks. The food maker is based in Berwick, Pennsylvania.
