Tesco offers red, heart-shaped potatoes (Franceline) for Valentine's Day

Tesco is to introducing an ideal treat for Valentine's Day romantics - heart-shaped potatoes (variety Franceline).

The unique roasting spuds grown in France are now allowed to be sold in Britain after an EU ruling banning the sale of misshapen fruit and vegetables was scrapped in November.

Tesco potato buyer Jonathan Corbett:

“Amazingly, the heart-shaped potatoes have never been sold over here before because of their unusual shape. But now their time has come.”

Franceline is a yellow flesh potato with red skin.
