McCain picks up Danish potato variety 'Royal'
A new variety of Danish potato, the 'Royal', will be used to make French fries worldwide after being picked up by a Canadian company.
The Agriculture Potato Association (LKF) developed the new variant through research and improvement to create the perfect potato for making fries.
Canadian company McCain is the world’s largest producer of French fries and has signed on to import the Danish Royal.
The patent on the new potato will also net a tidy sum for LKF as the head of the association, Lars Buch, explained that they will receive a financial share of any future crops of the new potato.
