Crisis dwingt Avebe tot ingrijpen

Sinds november is het tij op de wereldmarkt voor aardappelzetmeelconcern Avebe plotseling helemaal omgeslagen. Alleen de verkoop van zetmeel aan de voedingsindustrie is nog normaal. De prijzen dalen door de een terugval van zeker 10 procent in de vraag vanuit de bouw- en papierindustrie.
Deze tegenwind dwingt het concern dit jaar tot scherpe bezuinigingen. Investeringen gaan op een lager pitje, het mes gaat in het uitzendpersoneel en de boerenleden kunnen aanzienlijk minder geld tegemoet zien dan in het recordjaar 2007/2008.
