Frito-Lay job cuts won't hit Topeka
Frito-Lay will lay off 300 employees as part of 3,300 job cuts announced Tuesday by its parent company PepsiCo., but the Topeka plant won't be affected, a Topeka business leader said.
Frito-Lay spokeswoman Aurora Gonzalez said 130 job cuts would take place at Frito-Lay headquarters in Plano, Texas. The other cuts would be in the field around the country, she said. "Nearly all of these are managerial positions,"she said.
PepsiCo plans to eliminate 3,300 jobs and close six plants in an effort to save $1.2 billion over three years.
The company will close a Frito-Lay plant with 59 employees in Quebec, Canada, Gonzalez said.
