The Potato Processors Association of Australia, more recently referred to as Potato Processing Association of Australia(PPAA) is a small and focused organisation that was formed in 1992 to provide a united voice on issues of common concern in the processing of potatoes.
Some of the major issues that have been addressed by the members of the association include:
- potato research levy
- potato research
- food health issues
- seed certification
- plant health.
The Potato Processors Association of Australia acts in the interest of potato processing companies and represents over 90% of potatoes processed in Australia.
The processors pay a levy to match the grower paid levy, and their sole focus for research and development investment is to increase the productivity and profitability of potato production on-farm.
