Restrain, a supplier of sprout inhibition systems for potatoes in commercial storage based on ethylene, has announced the appointment of Yotam Guetta as the company’s new Head of Technology.  Yotam brings with him a wealth of experience in sustainable agriculture and AgriTech, having held senior roles at Infarm since 2019.

During his time at Infarm, Yotam served as Head of Agronomy and previously as Global Crops Operations Manager, where he led significant innovations in sustainable farming practices.

His extensive expertise in agronomy and technology integration positions him perfectly to lead Restrain’s technology division. Yotam holds a degree in Agricultural Science and a Master’s in Soil and Water Science, combining academic excellence with hands-on experience. As Restrain continues to push the boundaries of agricultural technology, Yotam will play a key role in advancing its solutions.

For the past 20 years, Restrain has pioneered innovations in potato storage with its state-of-the-art ethylene technology, keeping potatoes sprout-free, quality-stable, and ready for market.

Restrain’s systems create a stable ethylene environment in bulk, box, ambient, and refrigerated storage setups, seamlessly integrating into existing facilities without costly modifications.

In 2017, Restrain began designing and manufacturing its own catalytic generators, enhancing safety, reducing costs, and fostering innovation. These generators and advanced microcomputer technology enable unparalleled control and monitoring through future internet connectivity.

Following the European CIPC ban in 2020, Restrain became the go-to solution for major French fry manufacturers and potato suppliers. With our natural, cost-effective sprout suppression system, we help minimize weight loss and ensure optimal fry colour.

By 2023, Restrain had integrated iCloud for real-time remote monitoring and adaptive storage control. Ongoing research and a new patent system have solidified Restrain’s leadership in ethylene management, making long-term potato storage more efficient and sustainable than ever before.

Benedikt Cramer, Managing Director of Restrain:

"We are thrilled to welcome Yotam to the Restrain family. His deep knowledge of sustainable farming and passion for innovation will be instrumental as we continue to scale and refine our technology, driving the next phase of our growth."

Yotam’s Vision for Restrain’s Future

In his new role, Yotam will lead the development of enhanced application methods for various crops, including potatoes, onions, and tomatoes.

He will also spearhead improvements in Restrain’s remote storage monitoring solutions and explore opportunities to expand into additional crop categories.

Yotam Guetta:

"I am excited to join Restrain at such an important time for both the company and the agricultural industry. Restrain’s commitment to sustainable solutions and its groundbreaking ethylene technology offers enormous potential for the future of crop management."

I look forward to building on the innovative foundations already in place and driving even greater advancements in the years ahead."

Restrain is confident that with Yotam’s leadership, the company will continue to innovate and remain at the forefront of agricultural technology.
