Royal Avebe positive about the potato season: starch percentage at an average of 20.6 percent
On Thursday, the 12th of May, Royal Avebe processed the last potatoes of the potato season; a season that completely went to plan. The quality of the potatoes is good, with an average starch percentage of 20.6 percent, which is 1.3 percent more than for the potatoes from 2020/2021.
The tare percentage – the soil that comes with the potatoes from the land to the factory – was around 5 percent this year, and was just a little higher than last year.
Meanwhile, almost all the starch potatoes for the next harvest have been planted, and the first potato shoots are above the ground. On the sites this period is used for regular maintenance, to make sure they are ready for the new season.
