May 31, 2022
From January 2021 to the fortnight of May 2022, Agrobanco financed more than 28,000 hectares of potato crops, which represent a production of more than 375,000 tons of this flagship product of Peru. As is known, in Peru, every May 30th National Potato Day is celebrated.

During this period, the bank disbursed loans for PEN 107.4 million (about USD 29.17 million), benefiting 10,153 small potato producers. It should be noted that 68% of said disbursements were made with resources from the Agroperu Fund.

Cesar Quispe Lujan the Chairman of Agrobanco's board of directors:

"At Agrobanco we are redoubling our efforts to increase our placements with small producers dedicated to the cultivation of this Andean tuber, as well as other agricultural products, with the aim of not reducing their cultivation areas due to lack of working capital, in order to guarantee the country's food security."
69% of the disbursements were made to organized producers, in line with the policy of promoting associativity among small agricultural producers that the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation has been carrying out.

The regions with the highest number of hectares financed for potato cultivation were: Apurímac (29%), Huánuco (19%), Junín (14%), Ayacucho (12%) and Huancavelica (10%).

Small individual or organized agricultural producers who wish to apply for a loan from Agrobanco can approach the office closest to their location.

Agrobanco has been serving small producers in its regional agencies from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and through official social networks.
