Potato processing - and more specifically french fry processing - was prominently in the spotlight during a recent Dutch trade mission to India as the well-known Dutch potato processing equipment manufacturer Kiremko signed a contract with Indian French Fry manufacturer Hyfun Foods, a business unit of M/s Asandas & Sons.

Paul Oosterlaken, director of Kiremko and CEO Haresh Karamchandani of Hyfun Foods signed a contract for a French Fry line with a capacity of six tonnes of frozen french fries per hour.

Accompanied by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Kiremko joined a delegation of 131 Dutch companies that visited Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore during the 4 day trade mission to India from May 22 to 25, 2018. The mission particularly focused on maritime trade, agrifood, ICT, life sciences & health, and smart cities.

In addition to the Prime Minister, the India trade mission was attended by, among others, the minister of agriculture, nature and food quality, Carola Schouten. Food security and combating malnutrition were key themes on Ms Schouten's visit to India.

The Netherlands is regarded as an important partner for modernizing agriculture and food processing.
