Weighing solutions specifically developed for the special characteristics of fresh produce, and cost-effective entry-level tray sealing and X-ray machines will be demonstrated by Ishida Europe at Fruit Logistica 2017.

The Ishida CCW-RV-214-70-S-FPR-1 mulithead weigher is part of the company’s newly-launched Sector Solutions range, with models developed to ensure the optimum handling and accurate weighing of specific product types. This includes reduced discharge angles and drop distances to minimise bruising during product transfer.

The weigher delivers the RV’s reputation for unsurpassed accuracy and efficiency, while its unique triple combination calculation software can calculate three optimal weight combinations, double check them and then select the one nearest to the target weight - all in a single cycle. This minimises error discharges, increasing efficiency while also enhancing weighing accuracy and consistency.

Another weighing solution on show, particularly appropriate for sticky sliced fruit and marinated or oiled vegetables, is the Ishida CCW-M-106 FFW (Fresh Food Weigher). This 6-head multihead weigher features a linear design, with weigh hoppers fed by belts from an infeed table where an operator can be positioned to help direct and control the flow of product to ensure a regular and consistent supply to all hoppers for consistent weighing accuracy.

With stringent quality control a vital requirement for fresh food operations, Ishida’s advanced X-ray systems provide greater versatility than traditional metal detectors with their ability to identify a wide range of foreign bodies in bulk or packed products, including stones, glass, metals and dense plastics, as well as being able to carry out a number of other quality checks, such as deformed products or packaging.

The company’s brand new IX-EN series is ideal for manufacturers requiring an affordable but highly accurate entry-level inspection solution with a reliable machine that balances impressive sensitivity with minimal operating costs to offer an excellent return on investment. Despite its value-for-money positioning, the EN retains Ishida’s patented Genetic Algorithm (GA) image processing to deliver superior inspection sensitivity.

This high performance is combined with an ease of use design, including a touch screen interface.

The Ishida QX-300 Flex is a semi-automatic tray sealer, ideal for growing businesses that want to introduce top-sealed trays or for research and development work.

Offering the same high standards of performance, pack appearance and seal integrity as Ishida’s inline tray sealer range, along with sealing tool options for outside cut, shrink film and MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packs) applications, the QX-300 Flex has been designed for maximum flexibility to meet the demands of short run operations. It features simple controls for fast set up and quick release to ensure speedy changeovers of films and sealing tools. In addition, its compact dimensions reduce floor space and the machine is also fitted with castors as standard for easy movement around the factory to where it is needed.
