Ennio Pizzoli, founder of the leading Italian potato company named after him, has passed away at the age of 90.

An entire life dedicated to his company

It was in the 1960s when Ennio Pizzoli set the goal that seemed utopia: the valorization of potatoes in a Mediterranean country.

Inspired by the emerging European companies of frozen potatoes, Ennio led the growth of Pizzoli for over 50 years as it grew from a small packed potato operation in Budrio, Bologna, to the largest producer of French fries in Italy.

Over the years, Ennio Pizzoli introduced new ideas and new technologies into his company and thanks to the contribution of his employees, who he always considered part of his family, brought the company's turnover to over € 80 million of 2017.

In 2012 Ennio received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Potato Congress for the outstanding contribution to the potato industry.

Nicola Pizzoli his nephew, Pizzoli CEO, remembers:

“A visionary man looking always ahead. He believed in the hard work's values and in the capabilities and strength of his people.”

“With the sacrifice and commitment of a life and the strength of his ideas, he gave impulse and success to the potato sector in Italy. We will continue with the same tenacity that he taught us”.
