Nongshim Co.’s Sumi Potato Chip Honey-Mustard set a new record for domestic snack sales with 3.6 million bags sold in the first month, the South Korean snack company announced.

According to the company, 3.6 million bags of the new snack, which was developed in response to Haitai Confectionery Co.’s Honey Butter Chip, have been sold since its launch on Dec. 17.

With a retail price of 2,600 won ($2.40), the record-setting sales are estimated to be worth about 8.6 billion won.

The potato chips produced by Haitai have been highly successful since their launch in August, and aggregate sales stood at about 20 billion won at the end of 2014.

However, Nongshim’s new product appears to be far outpacing the competition. According to retailer E-Mart, the Sumi Potato Chip Honey-Mustard was its bestselling potato snack with about 10,000 bags sold between Dec. 23 and Jan. 6.

During the same period, 2,500 bags of the Haitai product were sold.
