McCain releases new products in the United Kingdom

McCain is growing its range of frozen potato productsin the United Kingdom by launching microwaveable baby baked potatoes and the UK's first branded retail sweet potato fries.

The company is accountable for nearly 60% of the UK's consumers, most being from a one or two person household. Therefore McCain has previously introduced products such as McCain Spicy Peri Peri Fries and McCain Steakhouse Fries in order to give a broader appeal to the frozen potato category.

Mark Hodge, McCain marketing director:

"Consumer insight tells us that one and two person households take inspiration from out-of-home dining when cooking at home. This NPD aims to inspire frozen potato purchase in this group by offering a variety of products that reference the latest food trends and feature interesting flavours, seasonings and cut types.

McCain Sweet Potato Fries have been launched due to significant consumer demand. "Sweet potatoes have generally seen a rapid growth in popularity with consumers" Mr Hodge said.

McCain Baby Baked Potatoes take only 3 minutes in the microwave and are seasoned with salt and black pepper, therefore easy to make.
