The R.D. Offutt Company based in Fargo, ND which acquired the Ryan Potato Company in East Grand Forks, MN last July, has sold the business to Campbell Farms based in Grafton, ND. The business officially changed hands on March 15th.
The R.D. Offutt Company says the sale will compliment Campbell Farms existing business lines, while Offutt will focus on its core businesses located throughout the United States.
Offutt is the largest potato producer in the U.S., but those operations are largely focused on the de-hy and frozen processing markets. Offutt also owns RDO Equipment Company, the largest John Deere dealer network in the country, and a large dairy operation in Oregon.
Campbell Farms raises potatoes for the fresh market in North Dakota, Florida, and Minnesota, and also seed potatoes in North Dakota. Tom Campbell, president of Campbell Farms says more details regarding the future direction of their acquisition will be released in the coming weeks.
