Growers at the P.E.I. Potato Board's annual meeting Friday December 2 said they are feeling optimistic about the prices they will get for their potatoes this year.
The prices so far are reasonable, but not high yet, said Gary Linkletter, the board's chair.
"We are higher than we were last year for the retail side of it right now, and we are expecting higher prices before it's done,"said Linkletter.
"On the Island here, supplies are very tight. You know, you go to buy some open potatoes, they are not readily available. So that should reflect [in] the price sooner or later."
