The publication contains revisions to the 2009 potato production for both Canada and the United States, as well as revisions to the amount sold, consumed, seeded or fed to livestock and value for the 2008 Canadian crop.
• Revisions to the 2009 crop were made to Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Quebec and New Brunswick, which affected their area planted, harvested and production.
• The 2009 area harvested is now estimated to be 361,600 acres (146 340 hectares), down 3% from 2008. The production is 100,997,000 cwts (4 581 224 tonnes), down 2%.
• This publication also contains revisions to British Columbia’s 2008 amount sold, consumed, seeded or fed to livestock and its value.
• The combined 2009 production for Canada and the United States is up 3% to 494,500,000 cwts (24,430,520 tonnes) from the previous year.
