New Brunswick Potato delegation visits Cuba
A small group of New Brunswick potato industry experts led by provincial Agriculture and Aquaculture Minister Ronald Ouellette is in Cuba this week for a follow-up on seed potato exports and to evaluate trials of different varieties of seed potatoes sent to that country.
New Brunswick is looking to further increase its seed potato export market to Cuba.
New Brunswick exported 13,710 metric tonnes worth $5 million in 2008, an increase of 3,000 metric tonnes from 2007 exports. It also sent 33 seed potato varieties for evaluation and their adaptability to Cuban growing conditions.
