Dominican Government probes tainted potatoes shipped from Holland

January 16, 2009
The Agriculture Ministry and Customs Agency (DGA) sent 56 containers of tainted potatoes back to Holland, affirming that it didn’t comply with international sanitary norms, and said an investigation is underway to determine who allowed part of the shipment to enter even after it had been banned.

They said several companies and customs agents forged official documents to violate Customs regulations, and notified Dutch authorities of the contaminated soil found in the potato cargo.
