Potato growers are advised to sell their potato immediately because there will be a decline in the price in the coming months, according to the Domestic and Export Market Intelligence Cell of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.
Price is comparatively high during November because it is the lean period with limited availability of supplies.
As more arrivals are expected to hit the market from December, price is expected to dip. Even storing for two to three months is not expected to fetch higher price due to arrivals from other states.
The team comprising N. Raveendran and S. Kavitha of the intelligence cell has announced the forecast after analysing the six-year data of the Mettupalayam market. It reflects the overall price of potato in Tamil Nadu.
