Richland gives Lamb Weston another 3 months to decide on land tract

August 23, 2007

Lamb Weston will get another three months to decide whether it wants to buy a tract of land at Richland's Columbia Point.

The city started talks with ConAgra subsidiary Lamb Weston in late 2006 on a $10,000, four-month purchase option for a 7.7-acre parcel of land at Columbia Point known as Tract D.

The company paid another $5,000 to the city earlier this week to extend its option until Nov. 20, said Gary Ballew, the city's business and economic development manager. Any further extensions would require a new contract.

If Lamb Weston buys the land, it would become home to new corporate headquarters that would consolidate the potato processing company's Kennewick offices with other Tri-City operations.
