Company Description

IPM Potato Group Limited, formerly known as "Irish Potato Marketing Limited" (IPM) is a seed potato company in Ireland and the largest exporter of protected varieties from the UK.

IPM is a subsidiary of Donegal Investment Group plc

IPM was established in Dublin in 1950 to develop exports of Irish seed and ware potatoes to the Mediterranean region after World War II.

In the seventies the company began investing in the breeding of new potato varieties in association with Oak Park Research Centre in Carlow, Ireland, one of the largest and most advanced potato breeding programmes in Europe.

In the nineties, IPM established IPM Scotland and also became part of Donegal Investment Group plc – formerly known as Donegal Creameries – one of Ireland’s largest food and agri-business companies.

In 2002 IPM established IPM Holland BV in The Netherlands and in the last four years two more companies were established within the Group: IPM Brasil and IPM France. The company also acquired A. J. Allan Ltd, a high quality seed potato company in Scotland to complement IPM’s production and marketing capabilities.
