Seabrook Crisps is a potato chips manufacturer in the United Kingdom.Seabrook Crisps, founded in 1945 by Charles Brook in Bradford, England, is credited with introducing the UK's first crinkle-cut crisps.
The company sells a wide variety of crisps and snacks, including traditional crinkle-cut, straight-cut, and lattice crisps, as well as novel goods such as Loaded sharing snacks and licensed snack partnerships. Seabrook values quality by utilizing sea salt and procuring potatoes locally if possible.
In July 2015 LDC backed the management buy-out of Seabrook as the business embarks on a major growth drive to increase its market share.
The business has increased its retail sales value year-on-year by 12% and continues to consistently outperform the overall UK crisp market, which has grown at 4.2% CAGR since 2007 and is worth £1.1bn.
The investment from LDC, which has taken a majority equity stake in the business, will support Seabrook as it looks to invest in its manufacturing infrastructure, new product development and progress international sales opportunities. In addition, the team has identified a number of potential acquisition targets which will further enhance the customer offering.
In 2018, Seabrook Crisps was acquired by Calbee UK, a subsidiary of the Japanese snack company Calbee Inc.
