KETTLE® Chips launches new Winter Flavours

九月 22, 2014

KETTLE® Chips is pleased to announce that it will be introducing three seasonal flavours to its range of delicious, hand cooked chips in time for the key Christmas sales period. KETTLE® Chips Cheshire Cheese, Red Wine & Cranberry will be launched as the winter seasonal edition and will replace the summer flavour of Lime & Black Pepper. In addition, in response to consumer demand, two classic seasonings, Stilton® & Port and Salsa & Mesquite, will be re-released for a limited period. All the new products are perfect for festive parties or for simply sharing with friends and family this winter.

Winter Seasonal Edition

KETTLE® Chips is launching Cheshire Cheese, Red Wine & Cranberry as a festive seasoning to help brighten the cold winter months. Perfect as a Christmas indulgence, the new flavour combines three distinct, yet complementary, seasonings on an authentic, hand-cooked crisp.

Like all KETTLE® Chips, this special edition was the brainchild of the KETTLE® Chef, Chris Barnard, who was tasked with creating a simple, yet warming seasoning which captures the spirit of winter food. Chris chose a traditional wine and cheese combination which has been enjoyed during winter nights for years - a smooth red wine matched with a full of flavour, creamy cheese – and then added Cranberry for a touch of fruity tanginess.

Bringing Back the Classics

Consumers regularly ask us to reintroduce their favourite flavours from the past, so what better time to relaunch two classics than the key Christmas selling period.

Loved by many, Salsa & Mesquite combines tomatoes, chillies, peppers and the aroma of barbecues. It was one of the original seasonings when KETTLE® Chips first launched in the UK back in 1988 and although it was discontinued in 2007 we still receive requests from consumers asking for it to be re-introduced. There are Facebook groups dedicated to bringing it back and even a music track dedicated to it!

Stilton & Port was KETTLE® Chips’ first seasonal edition back in 1998 and proved to be an instant hit with KETTLE® fans. The moreish seasoning incorporates genuine British Stilton® which can only be produced at five dairies in England and is characterised by the delicate blue veins that run throughout the cheese. KETTLE® Chips selected a rich ruby Port from Portugal’s Douro Valley, a sweet fortified wine with a deep red colour, to complement the cheese. The two flavours combine to create a taste that is ideal for sharing with family and friends at Christmas parties and during cosy nights in.

Andrew Slamin marketing director at Kettle Foods comments: “Consumers are more inclined to treat themselves and their guests at Christmas so KETTLE® Chips are always popular at this time of year. As the festive season approaches, the limited edition flavours will help to capitalise on consumers’ desire to buy premium products to share and will bring some excitement to the category.”
