Importers and growers looking to buy high health, high quality seed are warmly invited to visit Potato Council’s stand at Potato Europe (Emmeloord, The Netherlands, September 11-12, 2013).

For the first time at this event, Potato Council will be hosting the UKTI-supported Industry Reception for international seed potato colleagues and contacts at the event, on Wednesday 11th September at 4.00pm on the stand in the main marquee (stand A200).

“Thanks to the UKTI support, we are able to extend our export promotion activity at the event this year by hosting the Reception,” says Potato Council head of seed and export, Rob Burns.

“It will attract increased attention for British seed potatoes and it is an ideal opportunity to examine the benefits of buying seed from Britain, a world-leader in the potato industry.”

“Potato Council and leading GB seed industry organisations attend this key European-based potato industry event because it attracts industry from around the globe, and we meet many key contacts in one place.”

On the Potato Council’s stand at Potato Europe, in addition to meeting growers and exporters, visitors will meet plant health and technical specialists from GB who can offer impartial advice and recommendations on seed, classification, growing, varieties, export conditions and crop storage.

“Seed growers in Britain have developed a highly professional approach to producing the right varieties and quality for the target market, whether in Britain or abroad,” continues Rob. “In addition, those looking for extra protection can look to the Safe Haven voluntary certification scheme that follows strict protocols to ensure the very highest standards. Anyone wishing to source Safe Haven seed should ask their usual British supplier.”

Leading Scottish crop research organisation, Mylnefield Research Services Ltd (MRS) is a regular exhibitor at overseas industry events. MRS’s Commercial Director, Dr Jonathan Snape says “We’ve bred some of GB’s leading potato varieties, several of which are now exported successfully as seed around the world. We want to communicate our expertise in crop research, breeding and analytical services to an international audience and therefore we focus our efforts on events where we know we will meet a large number of relevant contacts.”

Visitors will find the Potato Council stand in the main trade marquee on stand A200, where they will find a warm welcome and industry experts on hand to help with questions and discuss the issues of the day.
