A drop in fresh potato consumption across the country has prompted the state industry body to call for a national promotional campaign to help boost sales.
Potatoes SA says Australians have been buying about 5 per cent less of the vegetable every year since 1996.
The group's CEO, Robbie Davis, says there has not been any potato promotion done at a state level in the past 25 years.
"The demise of ... potato marketing ... was in the late '80s and since then there hasn't been any promotion in South Australia."
