McCain Foods to axe 50 Hull factory production jobs

Up to 50 jobs are to be axed at a frozen foods factory in Hull in the United Kingdom.

McCain Foods is proposing to change production shift patterns to "ensure long-term viability"of the site.

It employs 127 staff producing breaded and fried finger foods such as onion rings at its factory on the Brighton Street Industrial Estate.

McCain said it had "embarked on a period of growth and needs to do that on the foundation of maximum efficiency and cost competitiveness".
