Indian Potato Processing Plant of HyFun formally inaugurated

On August 28, the Indian manufacturer of French Fries and Potato Specialties HyFun Foods held its grand formal inauguration of its new production plant.

HyFun Foods is a unit of M/s. Asandas & Sons, a firm existing for over 50 years engaged in wholesale business of vegetables like potato, onion, etc. operating from Mehsana, Gujarat.

North Gujarat has emerged as a leader in cultivation of potatoes for processing. All major processors source their potato from this region, therefore HyFun is at a significant advantage since it enjoys a very good reputation & relationship with potato growers in & around North Gujarat and hence would leverage the same for organizing the continuous supply of best potato varieties for their processing plant.

The plant - built with Dutch Potato Processing equipment - will produce a range of frozen french fries and potato specialties, such as Aloo Tikki, Burger Patty, Chilli Garlic Potato Bites, Crispy Potato Wedges, Veggie Nuggets, Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, Cheesy Potato Bites, Potato Triangles and the famous Mumbai Batata Vada.

According to CEO Haresh Karamchandani, the facility will process 35,000 tonnes of potato annually and will manufacture 20,000 tonnes of finished products. Over 1000 farmers will be associated with the project for the cultivation of potatoes for processing.

The company invested Rs 75 crore (11 million USD) in the potato processing facility.
