Lamb Weston recently concluded its third annual holiday food drive, resulting in donations of 306,673 pounds of frozen and canned foods, along with $8,195 in cash.
Employees at 19 Lamb Weston facilities in Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Oregon, Canada, and Washington participated in the food drive. Donations were distributed to 6 food banks in communities where Lamb Weston facilities are located.
“As a food company, we at Lamb Weston have a unique responsibility to address hunger in our communities,” said Lisa Bescherer, senior director of marketing at Lamb Weston. “Corporately, we donate a variety of frozen potato products to food banks year-round, but the holiday food drive provides a special opportunity to involve all of our employees, which really ignites our giving momentum.”
The annual food drive is coordinated by the Lamb Weston Women’s Leadership Council, an internal organization dedicated to orchestrating community-minded efforts and creating professional development programs that help employees reach their full potential. Despite the tough economic climate, employee contributions to the holiday food drives have increased each year.
