Fenland eyes Cold Store boom

Fenland eyes Cold Store boom
July 15, 2009
Fenland is set to become the cold store capital of Europe as food industry heavyweights tuck into exciting new developments in the Wisbech area.

Hundreds of jobs could be created in the long term as Dutch company Partner Logistics cashes in on the appetite for prime cold store space.

Business Weekly understands that Birds Eye Walls has already agreed to take space within a giant £12 million facility being built by Partner Logistics in Wisbech for chip producer Lamb Weston Meijer – another Netherlands conglomerate.

Lamb Weston Meijer has taken the lion’s share of the 20,500 sq metre cold store pictured here. It is 36 metres high and has 77,000 pallet spaces, which is why Lamb Weston was prepared to farm off space to non-competing industry contemporaries.
