McCain Foods named Exporter of the Year

Doubling its export volume over the last four years helped win the McCain team the prestigious Exporter of the Year Award for 2009.

The award, a joint initiative of Business New Brunswick and Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, was presented by New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham to McCain International and McCain Foods (Canada) at an awards dinner in Fredericton on May 21.

Liz MacDougall, vice president of finance for McCain International, told the gathering that the company sells to more than 100 countries around the world and that more than half of their volume comes from McCain's Canadian plants.

"We have been, and continue to be, very focused on growth,"she said. "Over the last four years, we have doubled our volumes and increased our New Brunswick staff."

MacDougall also said McCain is proud of its deep New Brunswick roots and that she shares the company's commitment to the province.
