A Dublin family that has been growing vegetables for 200 years is bringing blue potatoes to the Irish market, to coincide with the international year of the potato.
Peter Keogh &Sons, has launched the heritage ‘blue’ potatoes, from its farm in Oldtown in north Dublin. The family has reintroduced several varieties of potato that were common in Ireland in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The blue potatoes were first grown in Scotland in the 1900s and are a deep indigo blue in colour, with dark purple skin.
