Conagra Foods is cutting back its operations in Asia and Europe, as the packaged-food manufacturer shrinks its international operations due to disappointing sales.
"Sales for our consumer businesses weren't what we wanted them to be in those markets,"Conagra said. "We're also streamlining those products overall."The company added that 92 positions would be cut globally.
Conagra said the job cuts in Asia would come in China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea. In Europe, the jobs cuts would come at its factory in Manchester, England, which makes packaged popcorn. It said the cuts would not affect its Lamb Weston business, which makes fried potato products, and added that it would continue to export products to selected markets.
The cutbacks are expected to begin as soon as next month and continue into the summer.
