'Environmentally-Friendly' Potato Chip Factory from Kettle Foods to Celebrate Grand Opening
September 17, 2007
Local officials attending the official grand opening of the Kettle Foods potato chip factory in Beloit this Wednesday will be greeted by an unusual sight. They will see 18 wind turbines lining the roof of the newly built 73,000-square-foot facility, which will generate enough energy to produce 56,000 bags of chips per year.

The turbines are just one reason Kettle Foods, makers of the best selling all natural Kettle brand Potato Chips, is being recognized for achieving one of the highest standards for green building.

Governor Jim Doyle and City Manager Larry Arft will be on hand to cut the official ribbon and join more than 100 employees as the U.S. Green Building Council honors Kettle Foods as the first U.S. food manufacturing facility to earn Gold level certification for its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
Kettle Foods operates a second facility in Salem, Oregon, where the company was founded in 1978.
